Healthy Bolognese

Bolognese🍝 is one of my favourite comfort foods and like many children think- my mama makes it best. It’s also filled with a TON of veggies and is high in protein! I love having it over zoodles or protein pasta. Give it a try, it’s great to freeze and will make your kitchen smell AMAZING!⁣

Ingredients

➼2 tbsp of olive oil⁣
➼ 1 onion ⁣
➼ 1tbsp of mixed dried herbs⁣
➼Red pepper flakes to taste⁣
➼ 3 cloves garlic, chopped ⁣
➼ 3 cups chopped veg. of choice (mushrooms, carrot, pepper, celery) ⁣
➼ 2 cups spinach ⁣
➼ S+p to taste⁣
➼ 1lb/.5 kilo minced meat of choice (I use turkey)⁣
➼ 28oz can of crushed tomatoes⁣
➼ ¼ cup fresh basil ⁣
➼ A few dashes of Worcester sauce ⁣

Method

  1. Add oil to coat bottom of large pot and heat over med to high heat⁣

  2. Lower heat slightly, add onions and cook until soft and opaque. Be careful they do not brown.⁣

  3. Add dried herbs add chopped veg. and cook for 5 mins⁣

  4. Add minced meat and fry until no longer pink⁣

  5. Add tomatoes and bring to the boil, lower heat and simmer for 20-30mins⁣

  6. Add Worchester, garlic, and s+p⁣

  7. A minute before serving add baby spinach and fresh basil⁣
